ABSTRACT:
A quantitative research approach with a quasi-experimental one group pretest-posttest design was employed to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured teaching programme (STP) on knowledge regarding substance abuse among higher secondary school students at selected school, Kottayam. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire assessing demographic details and knowledge across 20 items. The results revealed that the mean knowledge score increased from 8.625 (pre-test) to 13.875 (post-test). The computed t-value of 12.272 far exceeded the critical value at 0.05 level of significance indicates that the STP was effective in enhancing the knowledge about substance abuse.
