ABSTRACT:
Background: Understanding the nurse’s perception of arrhythmia knowledge, and ultimately, developing tools to evaluate this knowledge, and competence in the recognition of ECG rhythms, are of critical importance to nursing and is mandatory.
Objectives: To assess the effectiveness of video therapy on level of knowledge regarding identification and management of cardiac arrhythmias and to compare the effectiveness of video therapy on level of knowledge regarding identification and management of cardiac arrhythmias.. Design: True experimental - randomized block design.
Participants: 30 nurses who were working in selected hospitals, who were fulfilling the inclusion criteria.
Methods: 30 nurses were selected by simple random sampling technique. Structured tool- for identification and management of cardiac arrhythmias was used for assessing level of knowledge. The data were collected after obtaining permission from the concerned authority of the selected hospitals. The reliability of the tool was 8.3.
Results: This chapter dealt with analysis, interpretation of data collected to assess the effectiveness of video therapy on knowledge. The findings revealed that the experimental group the pre test mean was 16 ± 5.8 whereas in post test 29 ± 5.4 and the difference in mean percentage was 20%. The paired “t” test score of experimental group was 13.19. When compared to table value (2.15) it was high. The unpaired “t” test score was 7.08. When compared to table value (2.15) it was so high. The “F” ratio was 7.59. When compared to table value (3.88) it was high. The “F” test score was 16.67. When compared to table value (2.48) it was high. There was no significant association between post-test scores of nurses in experimental group and their selected demographic variables.
Conclusion: The video assisted teaching program was most effective on knowledge regarding identification and management of selected cardiac arrhythmias among nurses.
