ABSTRACT:
Introduction: Home remedies are natural cures or medicines made at home from natural ingredients such as fruits, vegetables, and herbs and have given more attention due to its nature of cure such as simple, no side effects, no chemicals, inexpensive, and the pleasure of being able to cure. In home based remedies, the idea is to use the chemicals naturally present in the herbs, spices and other foods to tackle the offending foreign element in the body that is causing the pain or infection instead of flushing the body with hundreds of milligrams of strong chemicals in the form of antibiotics. Objectives of the study: 1. To assess the existing knowledge of mothers regarding home management of common illness occur in under five children. 2. To find out association between knowledge regarding home management of common illness in under five children with demographic variables. 3. To develop health education program. Hypothesis: H1: There will be significant difference in the pre-test knowledge regarding home care remedies of selected health problems of under-five children among their mothers. H2: There will be significant association between the pre-test knowledge regarding home care remedies of selected health problems of under-five children among their mothers with the selected demographic variables. Materials and Methods: In this research study descriptive research approach is used. Non probability purposive sampling technique was used to select the 30 samples of mothers of under five children. Data was analysed by using descriptive and interferential statistics such mean, standard deviation and chi square. Result: The data from above table shows that, in pre-test under five children’s mothers were having on average 12.466% knowledge regarding home management of common illness for care of under five children and mean score was 12.466±4.99. Standard deviation 4.99.
