ABSTRACT:
Internet usage in India has grown by leaps and bounds. Cyber bullying across the globe and in India specifically is a complex issue and warrants more attention than it receives. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of psycho educational programme on prevention of cyber bullying strategies in terms of knowledge among adolescents. Pre experimental, one group pretest posttest design was used in this study. Proportionate stratified random sampling technique was used for selecting 70 samples from VIII to XI standard in Government Higher Secondary School at Pallakkapalayam. The tools used for the study were demographic profile and Structured Knowledge Questionnaire. Psycho Educational Programme on prevention of cyber bullying strategies was given only one day with duration of 30- 45 minutes with the help of LCD. Posttest was conducted on 7th day. Results showed that the mean score enhanced in course of posttest and showed significant improvement on level of knowledge among adolescents. The Paired ‘t’ test value of knowledge scores showed statistical significance (t=21.06). In relation to demographic profile, association was found to be significant between posttest level of knowledge scores and gender, previous awareness regarding cyber bullying, teacher’s support and parent’s support.
